Language Arts
Katlyn's Connection
The kindergarten geometry lesson called "Shapes All Around Us" is connected with Language Arts which includes reading and writing. The students will be expected to read along with me to the book called Ship Shapes by Stella Blackstone. This will allow them to practice their word comprehension along with saying the name of different shapes. Having the students read from the book will also help them begin to see how each shape is spelled so they are able to recognize it later. The students’ writing also is practiced during the activity when they have to write a sentence about this drawing on the shape worksheet. On this worksheet the students are expected to use shapes to draw a object they see in their daily lives and then they have to wrtie a complete sentence about the shape they drew. This allows them to practice their hand writing along with sentence formation. This also gives them practice in spelling the different shapes.
Sydney's Connection
The first grade lesson called "Investigating Triangles" could be integrated with Language Arts by reading the book The Greedy Triangle by Marilyn Burns. Before starting the lesson it would be a great way to introduce the topic of shapes and it would help students be able to hear all of the different shape names that they will be using to build their triangles. You could also read this book at the end of the lesson so that the students could point out the shapes that they used to build their triangles.
Kaylyn's Connection
The Third Grade lesson "2D Shape Open Sort" could be used to integrate geometry to language arts/literacy. While the teacher is reading If You Were a Quadrilateral by Molly Blaisdell, students can practice their visualization skills. The teacher would not show the pictures while reading the book. Then students could be given a sheet of paper and be prompted to draw what they see when they listen to a certain page of the story. This would also be a good form of assessment because the teacher can look at the drawings to see if each student is practicing good visualization, as well as understanding what shapes are considered quadrilaterals.

Science
Garrett's Connection
Integrating science into the lesson "Mirror Image," intended for fourth grade, would be a fun component. Show students the anatomy of insects that display symmetrical organs such as a butterfly and its wings. Students can see that the butterfly displays symmetry internally and externally. On the other hand, students should then see the anatomy of another insect that may be symmetrical on the outside, but is asymmetrical on the inside.

Social Studies
Kristin's Connection
The book Sir Cumference and the Sword in the Cone integrates geometry and history, the legend of King Arthur. Further study could be done connecting the two by researching the architecture of the time period. Students could construct three dimensional models of castles using nets like the characters constructed in the text.
