Here are tasks that correlate with the Geometry standards listed in the Common Core. Enjoy!
Kindergarten Tasks
The lesson, "Shapes All Around Us" focuses on children learning the basic shapes (rectangle, square, circle, traingle, sphere, cylinder, cube, etc.) They are able to see what they look like and how they are connected to their everyday lives. Students are expected to look around the classroom and outside to find objects that represent different shapes. The lesson, "Discovering Solid Shapes in the Classroom" focuses on the students finding solid shapes that are through out the classroom. This lesson goes into further depth with solid figures so it would be appropiate to have this lesson after the first one. Students are able to use manipulatives to see the differences in the shapes but still be able to connect shapes to their everyday lives.

First Grade Tasks
In the lesson Investigating Triangles students are asked to identify shapes using attribute blocks and pattern blocks. Students also learn about defining and non-defining attributes of triangles. Then students use the pattern blocks to build equilateral triangles which helps them understand that there are many shapes that can fit into other shapes.

Third Grade Tasks
The Third Grade lesson named "2D Shape Open Sort" allows teachers to attend to students' conceptual knowledge by allowing them to create their own shape categories and sorting different shapes into their categories. The Third Grade lesson called "Fun with Shapes" includes games that teachers can play with students to practice themes of similar attributes in geometric shapes.

Fourth Grade Tasks
In the following tasks, students take part in lessons that integrate technology, science, and literature into math. The first task is focused on angles and their presence all around us. The second task about symmetry, asks students to find mirror images in different animals, flags, and shapes. Both of these lessons correlate with the fourth grade Common Core standards.

5th Grade Task
In this activity students are given polygons to sort in a way that makes sense to them. They will then record why they sorted that way and then share with a group the way they sorted. Students will work together to turn the piles of sorted polygons into a hierarchy of two dimensional figures.

7th Grade Task
In this activity students will follow clues to construct three sided shapes. Some clues lead to unique triangles while others lead to open figures. Students should notice which conditions produce unique triangles and which conditions make it impossible to construct a triangle.
